Herbal Testosterone Boosters

Men and women with low testosterone often experience a number of unpleasant symptoms. This can include fatigue, poor memory low libido, and a loss of muscle mass to name a few. While conventional doctors tend to wait until a patient is overtly deficient I prefer to be proactive with patients. For patients that have low normal or mildly low testosterone levels there are a number of non-hormonal approaches we can take before relying in a testosterone prescription. Some of the most basic but important factors include adequate sleep, regular exercise, enough protein in the diet, and optimal levels of the nutrients zinc and magnesium. There are several herbal approaches to supporting the body’s production of testosterone. For example, the Indian botanical superstar Ashwagandha has been shown in a recent study to boost a man’s testosterone level by 17 percent in three months. That is a good increase for a man who has suboptimal or mildly deficient levels. This study was published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
