Dr. Stengler: Big categories like infections — in conventional medicine, you have some antiviral drugs, but they have very high side effect potential. We know now over 3% of the world's population has hepatitis C, for example. Tell us a bit more about using ozone to treat infections, because that is very unique.
Dr. Shamberger: It goes back to its origins. When you're a doctor and you have a treatment that'll work really well, and there's nothing else effective for it, you like that treatment. This would be like hepatitis — they do have some effective treatments for hepatitis, but they're toxic and not always effective, and about half of people can't make it through the treatment. But this treatment really works very effectively and with zero side effects, which is very important.
Dr. Stengler: How about patients with the flu or respiratory tract infections, which tend to be mainly viral?
Dr. Shamberger: One to two treatments would be a typical course of treatment.
Dr. Stengler: How about some of these acute viral things you hear about, like West Nile or hantavirus, or the more recent swine flu?
Dr. Shamberger: We've had documented cases of those, people coming into the clinic quite sick, and the next day they're okay — it's that dramatic.
Dr. Stengler: How about the potential for toxicity? There are going to be people wondering, you're putting ozone into the bloodstream. Tell us a bit more about the procedure and toxicity.
Dr. Shamberger: Anything is toxic — it's dose-related. If you do this procedure properly — the Germans have been using it for 50 years, so we pretty much know how it should be done — it is absolutely safe. I've never heard of a problem if you do it properly, and it's very easy to do.
Dr. Stengler: How long does a treatment normally take, say if you're doing an ozone treatment intravenously?
Dr. Shamberger: You can do the treatments a number of ways. I can treat your blood, I can treat it as an enema, I can ozonate water and have you drink it, I can ozonate oils and have you apply them topically or even eat them, like ozonated safflower oil. There's an inhalation treatment where you bubble it through olive oil and then inhale that, or administer it as a sauna so it absorbs through your skin into your body — a very versatile and effective treatment. We do all these things in the clinic.
Dr. Stengler: How about using it for people with existing heart disease? Again, the premise is get the oxygen to the cells, reduce inflammation, stimulate tissue healing.
Dr. Shamberger: With heart disease, everybody knows that if you've got a blocked-off artery, you've got a problem, because you can't get the oxygen to the heart cell. So you clean out that blockage — that's a good idea — but here's the problem: even then, the heart cell can't use the oxygen efficiently, so you've got to do both. You really have to do something to clean out the blockage and something to build up the heart cell so it utilizes the oxygen more efficiently. So it makes common sense to put two treatments together: chelation therapy, which delivers more oxygen to the cells, and ozone therapy, which by its oxidation stimulus causes the cells to use oxygen more efficiently.
Dr. Stengler: Are those two treatments done simultaneously or spread out?
Dr. Shamberger: We do them one right after the other — do the ozone first, follow it up with the chelation, all in one day; it takes maybe three hours. In fact, I tell my patients ozone therapy in many ways is exercise in a bottle — you don't actually have to come in here and get it; if you're strong and healthy enough, go out there and perform the exercise on a regular basis, the single best thing you can do to stay healthy.
Dr. Stengler: Well, thank you, Dr. Shamberger, for that great information.
Watch Dr. Mark Stengler interview natural health expert, Dr. Frank Shallenberger, about ozone therapy and its use for treatment against viruses like flu (influenza) and hepatitis. We've spent a lot of time talking about oxidization and oxygen efficiency because it's a topic that we consider to be very important!
In this segment with Dr. Frank Shallenberger, we discuss the treatment of viral infections using ozone therapy. Over 3% of the world's population has Hepatitis C, and that's just one of the many viruses impacting our population. While there anti-viral drugs are out there, they often have a very high side effect potential.
Many of the traditional treatments for viruses like hepatitis can be toxic. Many of the people who undergo treatment can't make it through. Ozone therapy treats hepatitis very effectively with no side effects.
Yes! Ozone therapy treatment for the flu (influenza) often just takes one or two treatments. It's also effective for treating more acute viruses, like West Nile, Swine Flu, and other respiratory viruses. There are documented cases of people coming in quite sick with a virus and the next day, after an ozone treatment, they're okay. It really is that dramatic.
Ozone therapy can be given in a number of ways. Treatment types include blood, enema, water, oils, and inhalation. It can also be given in a sauna, where the treatment is absorbed through the skin.
When done properly, ozone therapy is safe and non-toxic. The Germans have been using ozone therapy for 50 years, so there is a solid precedent for how treatment should be done properly. It is absolutely safe, and we've never heard of a problem from ozone therapy treatment.
For someone with heart disease that has a blockage in their artery, everybody knows you need to treat by clearing the blockage to restore oxygen blood flow to the heart. The thing is, after the blockage has been cleared, the heart cell still isn't able to use oxygen efficiently. You have to do both--clear the blockage and something to build up the heart cell so it is able to utilize the oxygen efficiently. It makes sense to use a combination of chelation and ozone therapy to aid in heart disease treatment. These treatments can be given one right after the other.
Ozone therapy, in a lot of ways, is exercise in a bottle. It has the same anti-aging effect as exercise. It is an effective treatment for many different conditions.
